Once again the Challenge got off to a great start with the St Georges Day
Run ably organised by Anthony Taylor and the usual suspects. Next came
John Hartley’s fiendish Fellsman event.
We had a good turnout turn out on the Manchester to Blackpool with Martin
Wylie as CoC visiting the Lancashire Fusiliers Museum in Fulwood. The
Coast to Coast, again with Martin Wylie as CoC, was a scorcher with brilliant
sunshine all along the 160 mile trip.
Mike Raven’s Highland 3 (some say 4 or even 5) Day made for a truly grand
finale covering roughly 1000miles.
In addition, entrants could claim additional points for attending LAC social
events and our Classic Car Show at the Royal Lancashire Show.
We have awarded points for entering and taking part in both the runs and,
where applicable, the Concours events. The Ray Clarke
Memorial Award has been won by Geoff Awde with 220 points.
The Drivers award goes to Steve Smith and the Navigators Award goes to
It is most pleasing that Dennis Walton takes the organisers award. He
represents the hard working marshals who make our events possible.
This year we are again awarding our overall winner the Ray Clarke Trophy donated by his family. Ray was a stalwart of the LAC and the guiding hand behind our classic events for many years so this trophy is very appropriate.
As always we would like to thank all the officials and marshals who made
the events run so well and of course our sponsors for making it possible.
May I thank all of you who took part in the Classic Challenge.
Here’s to 2019.
